Alright, because of popular demand the Yaoi corner will now be filled!

I already placed A VERY VISIBLE warning. So don't go ranting on me, you're reading this at your own risk and I for one did my part in posting a warning! It's either you continue reading even if you saw the warning or your immediately leave this entry.

You Have Been Warned :D

                                                What is YAOI?

It is known as "Boy's Love" . To put it in lame man's term, it's a relationship between two guys thus revolving in a Boy x Boy pairing."Yaoi also known as Boys' Love, is a Japanese popular term for female-oriented fictional media that focus on homoerotic or homoromantic male sexual relationships, usually created by female authors. An article in the Guide describes it as having begun as homegrown fan fiction between male cartoon characters. As these depict males, there is an androphilic male audience as well; however, manga aimed at a gay male audience (bara) is considered a separate genre. The main characters in yaoi usually conform to the formula of the seme (top or attacker) who pursues the uke (bottom or receiver). The material that would be classified into this genre primarily involves gay relationships between the handsome or cute (male) characters, usually erotic." (Source: Wikipedia)

                                                The Seme and Uke

These are the two roles that compose the relationship. A seme is the dominant in the relationship, he's usually on top during intercourse. Seme's usually take control of the relationship while the uke follows along. The uke on the other hand is the opposite of the seme, he is usually the one at the bottom and often times acts as the "female" in the relationship. Seme derives from the ichidan verb "to attack" and uke from the verb "to receive".  The seme and uke are often drawn in the bishōnen style and are "highly idealized", blending both masculine and feminine qualities (Source: Wikipedia)

In my honest opinion, if the seme and uke featured in a manga or anime bring the story to life with the romance they have. The two roles complete each other bringing dozens of possible story twists and developments which is very exciting.

As you can see ladies (and/or gentlemen) the world of Yaoi is a world revolving around two boys who are madly in love with each other. It's as simple as that.

Yaoi comes in several genres and level of explicit content. I can never really say what are the best since it's quite obvious that we yaoi fan girls have our own tastes and interests. What I can add to this genre is that it sometimes holds better story lines than straight romance manga/anime. (Not kidding) There are a lot of misconceptions about Yaoi, but I'll leave you to decide and to understand the whole meaning of the word.  At the end of the day, it's either you embrace and accept this genre or you're not into it and simply ignore it.

And by the way, I'd like respect for this genre please. It's very irritating to see comments or remarks like "What?! Boy x Boy? eww!!" or "Gay relationships aren't allowed!"  Well back off! Whether you accept it or not, same gender relationships happen both in fantasy and reality! So if you don't approve of YAOI relationships then keep your disrespectful comments to yourself. There's a big reason why most people put warnings and make the effort to explain what YAOI is, so at least don't bring your biased remarks on a genre that you know involves same gender relationships. Honestly speaking, you're wasting your time. -__________-
