Yo Minna!

Alright, this entry might hold both english and japanese translation. Not for any special reason, I just feel like seeing kanji on my entries concerning nico nico douga XD *slapped*

Let's talk about a duet done by two well known Nico Nico Douga singers, that has been a fan favorite for years. A very famous cover of MAGNET, done by no other than:

I don't even know where to start!

Alright, I've heard about Piko and Sekihan way back in 2010, which was two years ago. The first cover I ever heard from them was "Magnet". During that time I wasn't all too familiar with the Nico Nico Douga singers and instead was more updated with VOCALOID. But when I coincidentally clicked on a video with two female avatars on it, I decided to give it chance and listened to their version.

I DID NOT REGRET CLICKING THE VIDEO ~ ♫
Here are my thoughts and opinions with their voices and how they sang

PIKO-  The moment I heard Piko's voice I simply fell in love with his voice range! I love that his voice is husky yet not too deep. It's very sultry and seductive, very smooth and fluid when he sings his parts. In a way when I would hear his voice, it makes me want to just stop what I'm doing and just listen to him. Piko has this sense of appeal that makes his listeners  drawn to him (which I like haha!). When he sang Magnet, I will not deny he sounded amazing. Especially when he would sing the chorus with Sekihan, the way his voice takes your attention but at the same blends with Sekihan's voice just brings me goosebumps!

Now for his female voice range, honestly speaking I was taken aback when I realized it was still Piko singing. At first I thought it was four people singing the cover, two guys and two girls. But I soon realized it was actually the same people and they just changed their voice ranges from a man to a woman's. I can say, unlike his male voice, Piko has a stronger, fiercer voice when he uses his female range. Compare to his male range which is softer, his female voice range is more hard and demanding when he is singing. I loved the fact he sang a little more passionate on his female range, sounding impatient and yearning. Which is practically one of the traits in the song, with the forbidden love among the two characters.

SEKIHAN- Alright, I'm going to be plain, Sekihan has a damn SEME's voice. Whether you all accept it or not, it's a fact (hahaha!). Being more serious, he has a very deep voice range. Twice as deeper as Piko's, a bit more hard and very strong when he sings his parts. I also notice that he likes to add a sort of "breath" after he sings a part, which I find very appealing with his voice range. Compliments it to be honest, and with the touch of "manliness" he adds to his way of singing really brings out the best in his voice. I like the fact that even if his voice is strong and can be easily noticed, he still managed to blend his voice beautifully with Piko's!

Going on to his female voice. I swear, it was the most unexpected range I've heard! With Sekihan's DEEP range I did not expect him to pull off a very high female voice! From his strong beginning, his female voice become very fragile and soft-spoken which got me to replay his part a few times just to make sure it was really his turn to sing(lol XD). I love the way he portrayed his female counterpart, soft and you can just imagine his character as the one that would easily cry. In a way, I'm not sure if some of you noticed this, but his female voice sounds very vulnerable.

Okay let's wrap this entry up! In my personal opinion, these two did an amazing job on their cover. Especially with their spoof at the end of the song, it really brought a big smile on my face.  I mean, imagine there they are singing so seriously and then suddenly they start joking around and make up spoof lyrics XD Piko and Sekihan are really two Nico Nico Douga singers that I have admired for so long already. They never stop to amaze me and draw me in with their songs and their voices. For the most part, they are also my favorite because when they sang magnet, they brought out the feeling of the song. It sort of brought you to this "forbidden love" atmosphere that would make anyone understand and even imagine themselves in the character's shoes. All in all, Piko and Sekihan did a spectacular job on this cover!
